Camera and microphone
The homepage does not request camera or microphone permission. The play page asks for camera access only after you choose to start the game. Gesture Synth requests video access and explicitly requests no audio, so it does not use your microphone.
Camera frames are read by the MediaPipe hand landmarker running in your browser. The Gesture Synth application does not upload or store your camera video. Leaving the play page stops camera access; you can also revoke camera permission in your browser settings.
Resources loaded from other providers
When hand tracking starts, the browser downloads MediaPipe runtime files from jsDelivr and a hand landmarker model from Google-hosted storage. These requests may expose standard connection information, such as your IP address and browser request details, to those providers. Gesture Synth does not send camera frames with those resource requests.
Local browser storage
Gesture Synth uses localStorage to remember whether you completed the play tutorial, so the guide does not reopen automatically on every visit. This preference stays in your browser until you clear site data. The current site has no user accounts, advertising trackers, or analytics code.
Email communication
If you contact Gesture Synth by email, the message and any information you include are handled through the project's Gmail inbox. Do not include camera recordings or sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your request.
